About

Coyote Portraits is a multidisciplinary research-creation project that invites the audience to resituate themselves from the perspectives of urban coyotes. What is it like to be a coyote and survive as urbanites?

We intend to interpret urban coyote individual and familial experiences, foster human understanding of what coyotes are trying to communicate during encounters, promote awareness of their complex sentient lives, and cultivate compassionate coexistence.

Our objective is to highlight coyote stories from their perspective using animated immersive experiences, and bring awareness to what human actions and interactions could mean for coyotes. In this process, we are building capacity to propose future educational frameworks that encourage valuing both human and more-than-human well-being through reciprocity, kinship, and interconnectedness in our shared spaces.
